Houghton House

IMG_6286

Hi everyone! So here’s my new beautiful vintage dressy from the Antique shop! I have teamed it with my Zara grey wool
coat and H&M fur stole, in keeping with the vintage feel.

I wore my little nude pointed court shoes from River Island to keep the look dressy, and added in my gold Susan Chaplain
necklace as an understated touch of gold.

So where am I? Well just up the road from the Antique Shop in Amptill, there is an old ruined house called Houghton House. I never used to know it was there until one of my friends mentioned it to me. I love a good derelict house and we couldn’t resist a visit! At some point you will be able to see all the photos and video footage that Grace and Becky took of me while we were there one time. Becky has been doing a project for her final collection at uni, and she used the film and photos of me as her research. I can’t post anything on here until her collection is out, so as not to spoil all her work! But you guys will be the first to see it thats for sure! Can’t wait to show you!

Amptill Antiques Emporium

IMG_6261

Hi Guys!

What a post I have in store for you today! Its a bit late, but the other weekend, me and my best buds drove up to Amptill to check out the Amptill Antiques Emporium! I know, the name gets me all crazy excited. Me and my sister used to get dragged there as children, we didn’t used to like going on sunday trips with our parents, until we entered this three story Aladdins cave. I hadn’t been inside since we were young so we simply had to check it out! It was exactly how I had remembered it, maybe even better!coat onIMG_6145

I decided to dress for the occasion in an original vintage dress that I picked up in a thrift store in San Francisco! So its come quite a way! I love its pattern and its slightly dipped-at-the-sides hemline. Its made entirely of chiffon so I have to wear a slip underneath, but its worth it.

I kept the rest of my outfit pretty simple, with peach-coloured suede heels from River Island and a little turquoise charity shop purse. The only jewellery I wore is the below necklace, which everyone keeps asking is vintage, but its actually Susuan Chaplain for Asos!! £9 – I had to buy it!

Some of the goodies we found inside include a lamp held up by a harpoon man, some bookends of a ship cut in half, some weird but cute figurines, and an incredibly expensive burgundy bag (OMG if only it wasn’t £45!!)

Whats a trip to an antiques emporium without a little dress up? There was a whole section of party dresses, and a whole section of different hats, bags, gloves etc. Was amazing! All the hats were for different professions and occasions, from a sailors hat to a fireman helmet, it was crazy!

Yeah, the doll creeped me out…

Yes, I made some purchases, but you will have to wait to find out what they are!!! Ok so they are wearable ;) that’s all you’re getting! I highly recommend a good long browse around this place, it has to be the best best best antique shop I’ve ever been too. Some things are pretty expensive but considering some of the quality, a lot of it is amazing value! I can’t wait to go again next time!

Sweet Valentine

So its getting nearer to the big V, valentines day, so I thought that I would make up a cute little date outfit for the occasion! I have never spent a valentines day with my current long-term boyfriend as he seems to always be working away around this time (he’s in the RAF) and this year is no different. Luckily I have some great girlfriends who I’m sure will hang out with me and cheer me up instead ;)

This outfit is perfect for either, a cute and romantic man date, or just a date with your girl mates! This post is dedicated to my to girls Steph and Grace :)

Soooo the dress is from Bershka, the turnover on their website is sooo quick that it’s not on there anymore but it will still be in store as it is FIT! I love the way it is almost unromantic with its grey base colour, black jersey sleeves and faux leather trims. It even has some little silver studs around the neckline which I love! But then if you add in some sweet little red Bershka shoes and a cute heart necklace from Etsy it instantly adds a romantic edge. Throw in tiger print beret from topshop and a gorgeous leather bag from Zara and you’re set!
I love outfits where the main colours are muted and then little pops of colour are brought out in accessories. Red is my favourite accent colour as it has such a big contrast to darks. Im not usually a fan of black bags but I think it really works with this outfit.

Anyway I hope you all have a great February and a lovely V-day so long as you spend it with the people you love! Love you girls! xxx

Don’t eat yellow snow!

Image

Today was the first sunny day after a week or so of snow and icy weather. I took this opportunity to wear the brightest colour I had! The coat was a charity shop find (I AM IN LOVE WITH IT) and because I am not a fan of the rounded collar, I have added a H&M furry stole. I think it gives it a bit of vintage glamour. The bag is another charity shop find, a cheap one might I add, and the hat is from Accessorize. Its so fluffy!

Shoes are Debanhams, I am in love with studded shoes! Just need to get some more studded accessories now I reckon!ImageImage

Under the coat I am wearing a plain black vest top and an Asos dragonfly print skirt. Its such a lovely flattering shape as it is made from soft drapey jersey. The necklace is, yep you guessed it, charity shop woo! This one was oxfam and I love it as it is massive! I love black and gold necklaces as they give an outfit a touch of the 1920’s. Plus you always need the accessory of red lippy! It never fails!

Hope you like the outfit guys. It sure kept me warm today!
